"That's not what we agreed." Sinead's voice was unwavering steel, slicing through the bullshit line this supposed captain fed her about rising dock fees raising prices. Though the captain stood a foot taller, the specialist stood toe to toe with him and squared off, unafraid.

"Listen, sweetheart," the smuggler drawled, hands spread in mock surrender as he gave a smarmy smile. "Supply, demand, you know how it is. When we started this trip, it was worth it, but we had some losses along the way-"

"I am not paying a single cent more. Your failings as a sailor are not my problem, you slimy piece of shit. You're going to give me what we agreed upon at the agreed upon price or not a single person will trust your dealings to come to you ever again." Furious, Sin whipped an arm about to signal to the plethora of boats. "Look around! You're not the only supplier. Do not cross me," she snarled, not bothering to keep her voice lowered.

Sinead knew how to deal with thieves like this. Head-on. Fearless. And ready to back up her threats, the woman ran her tongue across her teeth. "Here's what I'll do. You've got until the count of ten to yank the giant mast you have shoved up your ass and be true to your word before I walk away." It would be a pain in the ass for her. A huge pain. But this was why she ordered well in advance to keep her bar stocked. Working with bastards like this was always a toss-up. "One," she began emphatically.

"Sweetheart," the captain tried again, a tic forming in his jaw.

"Nine," Sinead's voice lashed out like the crack of a whip.

"You don't get to just back out of a--HEY!" the man snarled when the woman spun to leave, the Flaaffy at her heels. He grabbed her arm hard and yanked her back until she nearly collided with his chest. The down falls of being small...

Sinead ripped her arm free from his grip with surprising strength for one of her size and pulled her fist back as if to strike when one of the sailors whistled out a warning to all. They had company. Strangers were usually regarded with ample suspicion, especially during a deal. While Sinead would have loved to used the opportunity to knock the fucker's lights out, she held off. "Need something?"

What a brutal day, thought Frank as he walked towards the docks. He wasn;t one hundred percent sure how to exit this town heading north, but he learned his lesson about asking for favors in this shithole. He was lucky to be leaving with his limbs attached still. Yet, when he glanced up he couldn't help but get a bit agitated. It seemed as if a fairly small woman was being verbally accosted by some sailor. While she didn't seem exactly frightened, the size difference left some serious doubt about who would emerge victorious should things escalate.

He altered his course to head by the duo, whilst trying to seem somewhat nonchalant. As he neared he could hear more of the words, seemed like there was a bad deal or something? He didn't really have a chance to hear specifics, because when the larger man put his hands on the woman and snarled at her, Frank's pace quickened, a pokeball snapping to his hands. What kind of aspiring ranger would he be to let a woman in his sight be assaulted?

As Frank began to stride forward towards the arguing couple, another sailor met his eyes and called out a warning. He didn't care. The bonus of having already decided you have nothing to lose, means just that, nothing to lose, so fear is rarely a factor. He was a bit taken aback for a moment when the woman turned to address him, venom still in her voice, transference perhaps?

Do I need something? Interesting question. I have had one hell of a shit day, and I'm looking for a reason to vent some frustration. I saw Mongo there getting a bit handsy and decided I would see if you were in need of assistance. Franks body was covered in peeling skin and bruises, but the steely glint in his trained actor's eyes spoke volumes. 'I will destroy you.' They read, throwing the full weight of his acting experience to make his face a steely menacing figure. If he was still wearing his nice clothes, or as well taken care of as he used to, it would be laughable, but in this place, at this time, he seemed as dangerous as a circling Sharpedo as he channeled the lead character in his 'Mechanic' movie.

People who repeated her questions back at her always got under her skin in a bad way. Already in a fiery mood, this stranger was doing nothing to cool her temper. The self-righteous hero type, eh? Sinead shook her head subtly. Hero types never lasted long in Piscari. They may save the day once, but the entire town made sure it would only be once. Inevitably, the town found ways to get theirs and heroes found ways of getting gone whether by force or choice.

Sinead lifted both hands, palms spread towards the captain as she took a few purposeful steps away. "You boys want to fight like a pack of feral Mightyena, have at it, but I ain't your bone." And with Mightyena, the females reigned supreme. They'd realize it by the end of whatever this was.

The electric specialist leaned back against one of the dock supports, crossing her arms and legs in a relaxed manner as if she had all the time in the world. She looked down to the Flaaffy with a raised brow. "What do you think, Fionn? Want to take bets?"

The sheep considered, eyeing both men with an appraising look. 'I'm going with the sailors,' Fionn said finally, snickering across their bond.

"Oh, you're just the best at math. That's not very adventurous," she admonished, eyes cutting back to Frank. "My friend here does have a point, however. Sure you wanna play this game? It is..." Sinead paused and took a moment to point at each sailor as she counted them up. "Seven against one." One thing this hero would learn about Piscari if he didn't already know was that it didn't fight fair. Fighting fair landed you at the bottom of the harbor with an anchor around your neck.

If Hero came out of this alive, she'd have to give him a drink from the spoils.

The ship's crew all sensed the fight and each set their crates aside to join their captain. Some cracked knuckles, a few cracked necks. Prison tattoos marred some of their faces and each had their own array of scars. These men were certainly nothing to play around with. But the way they all bunched together was too good an opportunity to let pass.

Across their bond, Sinead murmured with brutal seriousness to Fionn. 'Thunder Wave.'

'My pleasure,' the Flaaffy replied. As he stepped forward, sparks flew off his fleece immediately before he discharged electricity from his body at the gathered crew. Five of the men found themselves immobile, leaving the Captain and one crew mate.

"Fionn!" Sinead scolded with faux exaggeration. "What have I told you about shocking people?" At least now, the odds were a little more even. The specialist smiled sweetly and waggled her fingers at the Captain when he turned to glare at her. Both he and his crewman started towards Hero, opting to go for him first before coming back for her.

Under her breath, Sinead muttered. "Alright, Hero. Let's see if you can play by Piscari's rules."

Not a bone eh? Good, I don't care for scraps. As the odds were stated against them, Frank just smiled. Normally he would baulk at such a thing, but he was in a really bad mood, and he didn't care. As the soldiers stacked up, thinking the fight was going to be in their advantage with a 7 on 1, Frank just stood there, the sickening smile on his face, thumbs hooked at his waistline, pokeball still in one hand.

Before Frank could respond to the odds comment, the sheep suddenly sent a wave of electricity towards the men rendering the odds much more in Frank's favor. Frank actually shot a dirty look towards the sheep. Did it think he needed help? He didn't need any damn help, not today. He had been insulted, ridiculed, threatened harrassed and stolen from. Everytime he had tried to do good since THAT day it had backfired. Sure he was partially stepping up to help the lady, but a large part of him, just wanted to thrash some locals in revenge for his humiliation earlier.

If anyone there had seen any of Frank's action movies, his sudden change in demeanor as the two mobile sailors began to close on him, would remind them of it as he slipped easily into the practiced role. Normally he would fight, even one on two to try to keep it fair, but he didn't care for that today. With a tandem click, the pokeball in his hand, and the one on his belt fired off, and shot their lights out. The sailors suddenly found themselves in front of a golett and a baltoy.

Drop them both. came the order, cold and steely as his expression. Dreidel always eager to please acted immediately, and tossed a wave of psychic energy at the sailor alongside the captain. The psybeam struck the man dead on, reducing his facial expression to a drooling glaze, causing him to continue forward even when the dock ended, landing with a splash in the water. Augrim on the other hand, having been trained in the ways of a ranger's pokemon, wasn;t sure what was going on and so he hesitated from attacking, allowing the captain to slide past and close on Frank.

As the captain approached he swung a haymaker towards the smaller man. Rather than dodge it though, or attempt to block it, Frank gave it a home, right in the top of his suddenly lowered and ramming head. The resounding snap of knuckles and finger bones was audible to all those nearby. Frank grinned, the same move had worked on the poacher a while back. It hurt like hell, and he'd have a headache, but better than a busted face.

While the captain may have been used to pain and had a rough life in order to be in this type of environment, a broken bone hurt, several of them so much more so. While the man howled and held his hand, with a disdainful look towards Augrim, Frank suddenly shot and arm forward and shoved the man into the water besides his barely coherent friend.

TW: Language.

Sinead watched the exchange with a lifted brow, arms still crossed. Unimpressed, her expression remained unchanged throughout. Once of his pokemon was clearly not as well trained as the other. In all honesty, she was hoping to watch an honest to Arceus fist fight. While Sin didn't tolerate violence in her bar, she couldn't say she minded watching it elsewhere in the right circumstances.

The electric specialist couldn't decide if Hero was more hard-headed or more stupid. Even she could have countered the Captain's throw without much thought. And he'd had ample time to prepare... So why risk injury to himself? Stupidity, she decided. It was rampant in men, she found. More balls than brains, and they didn't make good use of the brain they had.

"Alright, that's about done," she decided, shoving off the dock's support beam to bend down and fish the psybeam'd man out of the water before he drowned. The Captain was on his own - fucker could still swim despite his broken hand. Sinead grabbed the sailor under his arms and hauled him up on the dock with annoyance and left him laying there to wake up from his stupor later.

To the Captain, Sinead called down while he struggled to tread water in his sodden clothes. "Gonna help myself to my supplies. I'll leave you half what we agreed for being a fucking prick."

Without waiting to hear the bitching, Sinead marched onto the ship and snagged the crate so helpfully labeled with her name on it after slapping half the money they agreed to on another nearby. Hauling her shipment of booze down, Sinead stepped over and around the still-paralyzed sailors to shove the crate in the back of her car.

Glancing back at Hero, she grumbled to herself. Not that she'd asked for his help at all, but she supposed she could spare a bottle of the cognac considering she'd gotten it at a steal. "Want a drink?"

Frank didn't understand this place. Some people seemed overly vicious, others seemed border-line ambivalent. The wman had almost seemed annoyed by his showing up, then her pokemon 'helped', then she went back to a look of annoyance perhaps, followed by helping the people that had been giving her a hard time, and then offered him a drink anyway? Frank was about to get whiplash trying to keep up.

He mulled it over as he snapped his pokemon back into their balls, before nodding. He wasn't sure if he should offer to help carry the box. He wanted to, to do the gentlemanly thing, but this woman seemed fiercely independent. It could go over well, or just as badly as everything else so far. He didn't think most of the locals would, based on his previous encounter, so he opted not to.

Sure, I don't really have anywhere else to be at this time. No pressing matters at least.... as long as its not the bar with the fighting ring downstairs? I'm not going back there again...

"Not the bar with the fighting ring downstairs," she confirmed wryly. Piscari could get away with that kind of shit. Back in Caecus, crime was much more under wraps. More organized, in her opinion. Here, everything seemed to be a damn free-for-all. In Caecus, at least there were some areas that were as pristine as the pearly white buildings would leave one to believe.

Sinead pulled a crowbar from the trunk of the little vehicle - she normally brought her truck for big shipments, but this one had been meant to be a quality run. Hauling it to the crate sitting in the back seat, she popped the top off to reveal the contents inside. Normally, Sinead would have let someone pick their own poison, but with this shipment, she was sure as hell going to be choosy. Some of the decanters inside were worth more than the damn car they were sitting in.

Leaving the smaller bottles alone, Sinead instead pulled out one of the younger bottles of Scotch. Sinead carried it back near the docks and took a seat on the edge with her legs dangling near the water. Slowly, the crew were regaining control of their limbs and one-by-one, they fled back to their rust bucket of a boat rather than tangling again with the pair that had proven to be more trouble than they were worth.

After opening it, Sinead took a small swallow before passing the bottle on to Hero. "Sinead MacKenna," she said, finally introducing herself. "That's Fionn." The Flaaffy watched the stranger warily. "What are you doing?" he asked Sin across their bond. "Repaying a kindness," she said aloud. "Don't mind him," Sin told Hero, waving off Fionn. "Trust issues."

Sinead leaned back, hands bracing against the plats of the dock. "So what brings you to this shit hole?"

*content warning* Drugs, possible suicide

Frank watched as the woman went about finding them a drink and then returned. As she inquired about his business he shrugged slightly before responding as if uncertain of exactly how to do so. Big question but I'll keep it short. That big guy that didn't listen so well, I wanted him to learn drain punch from someone, so I thought we would come here. It was a bad idea, despite ultimately getting what I wanted, we got in a good bit of trouble. Should have known better given how trouble likes to find me so much these days.

As the bottle was offered, Frank's face softened again into his usual lady killer look, and he reache dout to take a sip. Alchohol had never really been his vice, and being a recovering addict he should probably abstain, but he didn't want to insult the nice lady. If she was sharp, she might notice the blatant tracks on his arms that seemed to be healed over. He would usually make it his purpose to keep them contained, but he was drained by the day and didn't notice they were showing.

So, was this a typical weekly business meeting? Or did I happen to come along o na special day?

Sinead watched him coolly, listening as he professed his woes. Well used to being the listening ear at the bar, she nodded sympathetically. "Aye, I'm familiar with that as well." Her lips curled into a smile as she spread a hand towards the docks as if recent events were proof enough.

Fionn took a seat beside his trainer and looked out over the water while simultaneously keeping an eye on the workmen finally coming around. The sheep was sure to give them the hairy eyeball that sent them scuttling back to their boat rather than looking to pick another fight.

At the man's question on whether this kind of thing was normal for her, Sinead laughed outright. "This is Piscari, a chara. Of course this is normal. This is all this town knows."

They sat in companionable silence for a while, the bottle passing back and forth between them before Sinead spoke up. "I used to be a user," she shared, having caught the telltale tracks along his arms. "Typical rebellious kid with a fake ID hitting all the clubs and everything that came with them. Ex, meth, Special K, you name it. Had an opportunity to make a name for myself, sing on stage with the caveat I had to give it all up." The woman shrugged her shoulders. "You want something bad enough, you give up a few things. Saved my life. I hope you find whatever that something is, man."

Frank enjoyed the silence as the two sat, looking out over the water, and casting an occassional look at the sailors nearby. Yes this place is... different. I've been in a dozen roles. Everything from street tough or action hero to Don Juan romance types and 'stick up their butt' police officer roles, and been told I did it well, but seeing this place, I'm not so sure if normal people know what that is really like.

As she casually leaned the conversation towards his usage, he reflexively tugged on his sleeve to cover the marks. That's not me anymore. That was the me that couldn't handle the spotlight. He died outside of Hudor Reef. Only I emerged. I'm trying to find my place now, which is why I am headed towards Uberrime.

Frank hadn't intended on telling anyone about himself, least of all that he was planning on becoming a ranger, while here in Piscari, but that pissant poacher had ruined that. He had escaped the first time, but given how close he was to leaving surely it couldn't hurt right? This woman seemed nice, even if in a brusque way, he liked it and found himself wanting to tell her, let her know he wasn't some bum with a hero complex. He was planning on becoming someone people would look up to, that served a REAL function.

That's kind of why the big guy didn't listen. The man who saved me... he was a ranger. He was retiring and gave me these two pokemon and asked me to go take his place in Uberrime... So that's where I am going, to become a ranger. I want to help people, not be some simple 'pop icon'.

Sinead narrowed her eyes a little, something nagging at her brain. He was a bit familiar, this man. But she saw all types come through her bar. Could be he'd been a patron in the past, but she didn't think that was it. He didn't seem the kind to run in that circle, especially if he was a recently recovering addict.

While he spoke of roles, it hit her. An actor. She studied his face again. That was why he'd not offered his name, perhaps. Though her own name could have turned a few heads, she hadn't been in the music industry in years.

She listened in silence as he revealed his interest in becoming a ranger. She nodded appreciatively. It seemed he'd found his thing after all. "Good for you. Keep at it. Being a pop icon is good and all, but I think you've got the right of it looking for better. Turned away from that life myself a while back. Welcome to the fold, Frank DuBois." Sinead held out her hand as if to shake his. "Thanks again for the help."

The specialist stood, stretching her arms to the sky momentarily. "I better get going. Got a bit of a drive back and want to get this shit unloaded before my place opens for the night. Take it easy, Frank."

Never one to overstay my welcome, Ms MacKenna. I appreciate your kind words, but do not seek to hold you back from your duties at all. I think it's best I leave this town, post haste, as I have made only the one friend here, and quite a few enemies I think. Hopefully, when we meet again, it will be Uberrime, should you ever come visit. I'll be off, I have some explaining to do to the Golett, and a long journey ahead of me.

Frank made as if to dip an imaginary cap on his head, beamed a smile, and headed back towards one of the furthest most docks. He figured looking for a ride out of town might be easier further away, before someone from the fight club had a chance to cause more trouble.
